Black Diamond is new construction and was selected by Greenstone when ski-in-ski-out lots were still available in Crested Butte. Its southwest-facing building plat provided direct sun exposure all afternoon with incredible mountain sunsets. For these reasons, it was chosen as an investment property.  The architectural choice was a “contemporary-mountain” design. The three-story home also provides amazing views of the West Elk Mountains to the front, down valley Crested Butte Town views to the left, and Crested Butte Mountain views to the rear.

The gourmet kitchen provides the central gathering point of this space. It is fitted with the finest in selected stone counter tops, mountain cabinetry and paneled appliances. The room contains an EPA rated Napoleon wood-burning insert, embedded in a floor-to-cathedral-ceiling stone fireplace. This beautiful, wrought iron fireplace is actually an environmentally friendly heating device that can easily heat the entire floor. Drinking wine by this fireplace is the perfect spot after a day of skiing Rocky Mountain powder. The adjacent outside flagstone patio is home to a large, community hot tub with views of the ski runs!

The Retreat has four bedrooms and four and a half baths. The third floor contains the master suite with a second bedroom and office. The master suite is pure luxury with cathedral timber ceilings, gas fireplace, Jacuzzi tub, steam shower, flat panel TV and refrigerator. The media room, complete with free-standing gas fireplace and wet bar, is located on the first floor. “We wanted to create the perfect space on top of the mountain with 360-degree views, to sleep in on weekends before a big day of skiing, mountain biking or hiking the peak directly behind”.

A mountain retreat of this quality would not be complete without the latest in technology. All spaces including the garage are heated with a high efficiency boiler and radiant in-floor tubing, set in a Gypcrete subfloor. The same system provides all domestic hot water. Ceilings are super insulated with closed-cell, green foam insulation. Each floor has its own wireless router and rooms are wired for satellite HDTV, security and telephone.

Everything has been planned to make your winter vacations enjoyable in snowy conditions. The garage is oversize with two (9) foot high bay doors to provide easy access for SUVs with rooftop-mounted ski racks or space boxes. Ski and boot storage and work space are built-in. Even the parking area and upper driveway can be made heated. The buyer can decide to heat the outdoor driving spaces with are pre-equipped, simply by adding a second boiler in the mechanical room.
